Conceição Zagalo
Conceição Zagalo is an ethical leader and governance innovator with 50+ years shaping responsible business. As IBM Portugal's former Executive Director overseeing Communications, Marketing, and Corporate Citizenship, she embedded ethics and social purpose into a global Fortune 500 company. Today she chairs foundations and boards focused on education, sustainability, and social inclusion — moving strategy from conference rooms into measurable impact across Portugal, Mozambique, Cape Verde and Vietnam.
She is co-founder and former chair of GRACE (Responsible Companies), architect of corporate ethics codes, and tireless advocate for lifelong learning as the antidote to professional obsolescence. Her work spans corporate leadership, nonprofit governance, academic dialogue, and civil society — a rare combination that allows her to translate strategy into action across sectors.
Recognized internationally with the Amnistia Internacional Prize (2007) and Woman of the Decade Award (2024), among others, Conceição brings lived experience in navigating change, ethical decision-making, and the courage required to lead with purpose in uncertain times.
